In my Excel, If I have 2 or more files open, there is an excel program on the status bar at the bottom. I have the status toolbar set NOT to Stack like items. On an EU’s PC, I verified that he has the same settings. But on his PC, when he opens multiple files, he only has one Excel Program icon on the toolbar.

We confirmed that itsnot a toolbar issue because he will get Multiple program iocns in WORD, one for each DOC he has open.

SO I tried opening one excel sheet through Windows Explorer. The I opened anotherone and it kept it in the same Excel Program icon on the toolbar. HOWEVER, when I launched Excel from the Programs menu, it did create another Excel Program icon on the toolbar. I also got an error saying that the Personal.xls file is in use…. This may be a clue in that it could be a templaye like the NORMAL.DOC in WORD.

    Thanks

I assume that when you write “status bar” and “toolbar”, you actually mean the Windows Task Bar. There is a setting in Excel itself that governs whether each open workbook gets its own icon in this Task Bar. In Tools | Options…, activate the View tab if necessary, and tick “Windows in Task Bar” if you want individual icons for each workbook or, clear it if you want a single Excel icon.
