A neighbor posed this question to me tonight and I could only guess at the cause as I am not familiar with Excel.

One Excel file views normally on the screen, but when the file is printed it prints out very small (font, graph and all). He says that the problem began, and is only with this file, when he started entering page breaks. Says that the more page breaks he adds, the more the problem persists and makes things ever smaller. I have not seen the computer and can only guess, at this point, what the cause could be. I am leaning to the page breaks as the cause, but don’t know what other issues could be causing the printout to be so small when the screen view appears normal. Ideas…thoughts ???

    Thanks.

Not sure exactly what is being done, but if you go to page break preview and start adjusting the page breaks in this view, XL will adjust the printing size to fit as much as you want on the page. If and when this is done, the font size may get small.

It can also just occur if you tell XL to print everything to one page and XL thinks the sheet has more on it than the user does (a cell in bottom right was formatted for example).

Thanks for the reply Steve. smile

I’m not sure what is being done and I suppose the only way to get to the bottom of this is to go over to his place and sit down at the machine myself. I’ll post back after I do, but any thought or comments in the interim will be appreciated.

          File > Page Setup…

As Steve suggests, check the scaling. If it is not set to 100%, see how many pages Excel thinks it should print in File > Print Preview…

Thanks for the graphic Leif. smile That seems to be something he was referring to last night. I will call him today and see if I can get an email address from him so I can perhaps solve this remotely. Pictures really can say 1,000 words.
