• Excel corrupt formating

    Excel 2003 SP3 running on XP Pro SP2

    One worksheet displays cell contents that displays with what appear to be random white lines, almost like cracks in the font. Copying and pasting special with values only into the same workstation does not clear issue.

    Copying cell contents into a new blank worksheet brings the corruption but copying and pasting special, just values is OK with the pasted material picking up the defaults of the new, blank spreadsheet.

    I have attached a screen shot which hopefully provides details.

    I am curious if Excel has something similar to Word’s normal.dot file which may have enabled corruption to enter this file.

      From the picture it looks like you have a white diagonal border in the formatting. Check the Format cells – border (tab)…

        Steve and Hans nailed it. We did not think in terms of a straight line as the line looked etched as it went through the letters but once again, the collected wisdom rises to the top.
