I have a client’s spreadsheet that automatically adds an = sign and therefore calculates most entries. Values entered remain values, no =. Example: Type in a date (4/11) and Excel gives you .36 (formula bar reads =4/11) or if formatted for a date gives you 01/00/00 (formula bar reads =4/11). New sheets, added columns, all cells act this way. I have looked in macros, viewed the sheet code, formatting, options. Changing the cell formatting does no good. What did the designer do?

Go to Tool/Options/Transition and uncheck “Transition Formula Entry”
