2000 and 2002 have the facility to change the base year using regional settings so that dates entered as 2 digit years, say 12/02/11 will be treated as 1900 rather than 2000. This facility is NOT functional in 97.
Is there an easy way to do this so that when importing dates with 2 digits, they get parsed to the correct year. We need a cut off of year 4. Assume it is NOT possible to get the dates in the text file as 2 digits.
I can write a utility in VB or VBA to do this and replace the Excel Import Wizard (Silly name anyway because it should be called Warlock), but before I do so is there a simple fix or registry hack that anyone knows about?

      Not with XL 97.

If you knew that your imported dates were all after 1929, you could rely on Excel’s arbitrary choice of century. Any two-digit year from 30 to 99, Excel assumes 1900. For years 00 to 29, Excel picks 2000.
