I have win 11 22H2 installed, using Start11, am having trouble getting Everything Search and the Everything toolbar to work. On Win 10 Everything Search was on my toolbar where I could type in search words and such. I can’t seem to replicate that in Win 11 – I have windows search turned off. I have the Everything app on my toolbar, but it’s just minimized there, it isn’t a search box. I have the latest of both apps installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the latest version of each?

Thanks for asking, Joe. I’ve got version 1.4.1.1024.x64-Setup of Everything and version 1.1.1 of Everything toolbar, both supposed to work with Win 11. “Everything” works, pinned to my taskbar, but I can’t get the everything toolbar to do anything at all. It installed, is in the startup folder, and shows on Task Manager as running, but is not showing on the task bar and is not in the hidden icons, and I don’t have a way that I know of to adjust settings for it. I have  Stardock Start 11 running but there is nothing in it regarding the Everything toolbar. When I had Win 10 (yesterday…) I had Start 11 running and the Everything toolbar on the taskbar so they are compatible – in Win 10 anyway. Appreciate any thought you might have. The conversion from Win 10 to Win 11 went perfectly, only have this and a few cosmetic things, a few old programs that didn’t make it. Thanks. Bob

The first thing I’d try is to uninstall all three, re-boot, install everything search and everything toolbar, re-boot, and see if they work without Start11 in the picture at all. If they work, then contact Stardock support for help. If they don’t check the Voidtools forums. Report back.

I did as you suggested, uninstalled all 3, then installed Everything and Everything Toolbar. Was the same result, with the icon on the toolbar for the Everything Toolbar, but it nothing else. I did some research, and it said to right-click the Everything Toolbar icon to pin the toolbar to the taskbar, but the icon on my taskbar didn’t have that option. So I found the app in the start menu, right-clicked it and it did have that option, so clicked that – and it worked, sort of. I now have an Everything Toolbar icon on the start menu that, when clicked, opens up Everything. But I still don’t have the box on my taskbar where I can type in my search. I went to the voidtools forum but it is mostly old and couldn’t find anything. Went to the github site for Everything Toolbar and posted a question – see if that results in anything. I can live with popping up the window to search, just more elegant to have the search box on the taskbar. Thanks for all your help, Joe.

Someone answered me on Github, said to enable toolbars I’d need StartBackNow or Explorer Patcher – they are much like start 11 but not as good, and although StartBackNow did enable toolbars, I couldn’t get the Everything Toolbar on the taskbar, just the icon. I like Start 11 more, so I’ll just stick with the icon, I’m sure in a week it will be second nature!
