Hi all,

I am trying to set up a monitoring file for events but unsure of how can I do it using Excel.
There are different types of events, but basically they are Rights, Tender Offers, Warrants, etc These Events consist of
response date which owners have to revert by then. Any one event may have about 20 to 30 owners.

I would like to have a program which monitor the responses by owners on their decision to take up or lapsed the said event, and at the same time, I can send reminders for those that have not responsed.

Any insights or ideas are very much appreciates. I have been trying to figure this for a couple of weeks but have no idea at all.

Sounds like you’re asking for an entire application. There is dedicated software to do stuff like this. Outlook has some of it built-in (they call it tasks). Not sure if you can use tasks in Outlook with a team of people, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

My company use Lotus Notes, agree with you its sound like a whole application, that’s because I have no idea of where to start and need some suggestions from the forum or someone might have seen or done this before. Any pointers are much appreciate.

Does Microsoft have a Project Management application (MS Project, or whatever) that could be adapted? Or some other PM software?

Project lacks the interactivity that seems to be required; it sounds to me like tasks in Outlook would do the job nicely. You can send task requests to other people, and track how complete (or otherwise) they are, request updates, etc.

Alternatively, something like the Task Manager for Excel might help.

I know Lotus Notes can handle stuff like this. I have worked at a client who used Notes for customer complaints handling, including automatic logging of emails, escalation of issues to other departments, path monitoring of calls etcetera. Dunno who created this though, might be a third party tool built on top of Notes. Best to get in touch with your Notes people, they might be able to find out.
