Does anyone understand this? In my Event Viewer (Vista HP) the following keeps coming up and has done so since I downloaded the SP2 Update. I have had a read of MS web page but frankly do not understand it! If I click on the link in the Event Viewer report(download.windows update …) it directs me to a file that I can download. Should I install this file or just ignore it?

I’ve not run into this situation Ron, but since the site (URL) is a legit MS site, I went checking and found this:
Microsoft Supportability e-Newsletter : CAPI2 Diagnostics Introduction
I don’t know what’s goin’ on but with a “trust” in MS, I guess I’d go ahead and do it. Of course, it would be better if you have a nice, full backup beforehand.

Downloaded the file and opened it and this is what it referred to …
Aint got a clue! So I think my only solution is to ignore it and see if anything stops working … unless other Woody experts have knowledge of this stuff.
Thanks for your reply Al.

If you click that “View Signature” button then it will tell you more about the certificate that has the problem.

Did that Stuart and this is what I get … do you think that I should proceed to ‘Install Certificate’?

It looks like Microsoft have signed this with the wrong certificate. I would NOT install it, as accepting spoof additions to your certificate root list would leave you open to all sorts of scams. If this is a Microsoft error then they will eventually sort it out.

I’d have to agree with Stuart here and NOT install the certificate. Too many “spoofs” running around today to risk it.

You bet … I’m going to leave things ‘as is’.
Thanks for advice.
