As there comes a season of giving gifts, whatever your tradition, it is a good time to think about gifts that do not tie the receiver to a proprietary system, that do not spy, or contain telemetry… gifts that can be freely used, without DRM…

How about a cell phone without Google… a laptop without Intel’s Management Engine back door… a USB device that is a true random number generator for passwords… or a VPN router that compliments your current router?

Or… there is DRM free gaming, music, and movies…

You’ll usually miss out on knowing about these options… but we are not stuck with Microsoft, Google, and endless advertisers collecting data and abusing our hardware and time… and the more people choose freedom enhancing options, rather than proprietary privacy abusers, the more devices and content will be available. Exercise your freedom to choose…

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) has a Ethical Tech Giving Guide that may just inspire you!
