ESMTP Service not available

More often than not  a friend gets this error message when sending an email using Yahoo web Browser  but I have also tried sending via Apple Mail

554: gmx.net (mxgmx102) Nemesis ESMTP Service not available

No SMTP service

Reject due to policy restrictions.

Can a SMTP tweak fix this problem?

Web browser access is just a picture of the mail on the server. All the work is done at yahoo and the issue is with them.
Search their help site for info.

It may be an issue with the mail server at GMX. Are you attempting to send them email?

This’ll depend on various things. Is there any more information in the error message?

Because https://postmaster.gmx.net/en/error-messages does list three possible categories of ways to get a 554/policy error condition.

Is this a GMX user sending mail to someone else, or someone else sending mail to a GMX user… or would both sender and recipient addresses be at GMX?

(If neither sender nor recipient is at GMX, the reason is very clear… you shouldn’t be connecting to GMX servers at all in that case, so you need to fix your mail configuration.)
