I am running in IMO mode on an machine with Windows XP and have an ASDL connection. On Monday afternoon I came up against a Mail Delivery Error – Outlook will download my messages and is still doing so happily but if there is anything to send I get the following error message
“Unable to connect to the server Account mail.eclipse.co.uk SMTP server smtp.eclipse.co.uk Error number 0x800ccc0e”
I have been on to my ISP eclipse and they took me through all of the obvious things like deleting and re-entering the account details and could come up with nothing. Running a ping worked fine and I still have mail coming through to me so they suggested that it must be a problem with my Outlook. I have done a system restore back to the end of last week when all was well but I cannot seem to fix this.
Annoyingly I am having to access my webmail to send mail.
    Any ideas?

Have you possibly done something to your security settings?

In case something in the lateral thinking line is necessary, you might also try looking at the second posting in this link which was suggested by cowboydawg in this thread.

I haven’t (wouldn’t) wittingly change security settings and a System Restore has no effect on this problem.

I did a Google on the error message but seemed to come up with things relating to Outlook Express which I have never used having always had full Office.

One will get this message if the SMTP server is down at your ISP. Are you still having this problem?

I am afraid that I am. My ISP are adament that they are not having a problem at their end. There is no problem receiving my mail from them and I can send if I log onto my mailbox on their website – just not in the usual manner through Outlook.

Here in the Seattle area we are having problems in sending to ATT Worldnet, MSN and AOL at this time. We can send to most other email providers with out any problem.

Solved! Unplugged splitter, removed BT phone line, all was fine, put BT back in and still fine. Would have tried this earlier but phone socket is incredibly badly positioned between heavy furniture! Relief all round
              Thanks for all your help
