I have 2 PC’s that are hard wired to a router and both are joined to a homegroup Until 2 days ago, everything worked just the way I wanted.

I now get the following message on my PC (A) when I try to connect to my wife’s PC (B):

Windows cannot access \CONNIE-PC Check the spelling of the na……..etc
“Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found.”

PC B can see and share files with PC A – no problem.

Both PC’s are using Win 7 HP (one is 32 bit, the other is 64 bit). Both using Windows firewall & MSE.

Things I have tried: I have run SFC /scannow – nothing
I have done system restore (2 different dates before the problem) – nothing
I have run the HomeGroup troubleshooter – (only get the above message)
I have “unjoined”, then rejoined the Homegroup – nothing
I have checked each PC for “correct” sharing & security settings
I have checked the drivers of each network adapter – (current)
I have checked that HomeGroup Listener & Provider is running on each PC
I can ping each PC using name & address
I can see each PC under Network in windows explorer. Under Homegroup I see Connie (CONNIE-PC) and then only the folders Documents, Music and Pictures. Should see shared folders & drives.

I’ve run out of ideas. What am I missing here?

      Does accessing through \IP.of.B.Pc work?

    • #1259858

      I am sorry, I don’t understand.

Thanks for your suggestion, but……….. What do I access? How do I use \IP.of.B.PC? And what is it?

You hit Windows 7 start button and in the search field type \ and the IP address of the computer you want to connect to.

The IP address can be found by checking the status of the network card.

      cheers, Paul

Rui and PT – Thanks for the replies. I have tried your suggestion but get the same results (Windows can not access…….etc). As I stated before, I can ping using BOTH name and IP address and have success.

Is there anything else I can try?

Just covering the basics here, you have checked your sharing settings? Can you post what values they have on Connie-PC?

    • #1260097

Rui – As I stated in the first post, I have checked that all folders and files I want to share are “marked to share and allow”. I had no problem for 11 months sharing files between the PC’s.

      Ok.

Did something change regarding firewall on connie-pc or maybe an accidental change from a home / work network to a public one?

    • #1260299

Rui – Nothing has changed with the firewall nor to the home network setting. I still had the error message before I check the firewall setting but before I could send a reply to you we had a internet cable outage. I check with others in the area and it was wide spread. About 1 hour later, the internet connection came back on. I checked and I now have homegroup connection. It must have been something in the router that was causing the problem. Don’t know how to check this out but will keep it in mind if I every have another problem like this.

Thanks for the help and mark this one solved.
