I changed my Apple ID password/passphrase. Now my Apple watch is asking to update this password – in order to enable backups, I think. So, I go to do that, but it doesn’t have a keyboard, just a handwriting block. I can get it to recognize letters, but not numbers. It recognized a capital “G” but haven’t tried a lower-case letter – I’m guessing that will be difficult as well. I’ve tried my finger and a stylus. Is there any other way to enter this on my Apple Watch?

GuestFebruary 2, 2024 at 5:50 pm #2633860Yes, I have the watch app on my iPhone.
But I need some help for where in the watch app to go to enter the password for my Apple ID.
I can go to “General” in the app, then “Apple ID”. That shows my Apple ID, but there not a field to enter a password. Tapping my Apple ID on that screen does not make a password filed appear.
OK, got it. Clicking around on several things on the watch finally got me to where a keyboard appeared on my iPhone and I entered my password. Then it wanted a 2FA and I got that also. WOW – Not intuitive at all. Unlikely I’ll remember what I did to get that to work.

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 1:12 pm #2690667I tried this and I could see my apple ID on my iPhone – but nowhere could I see where to enter the password. I’ve also tried the trick to use my nearby iPhone to enter text in a text field on the watch. But pasting in my complex password in the iPhone failed to copy the password text to the iWatch. I think this is a bug, or that Apple expects us to be able to type complex and proper passwords on the tiny iWatch keyboard. Anyone have any proven solutions for this? And yes my iWatch and iPhone are updated to the most recent software as of 7/26/2024. Thanks.
