I am making an autoplay CD; the idea is to startup a slide show then end the slide show and start up an Acrobat pdf file from the END button on the slide show.

I can start the slide show from autorun.inf no problem but I cannot find a way of ending the show and opening the Acrobat file. I can end the show with a hyperlink button or start the Acrobat file with a hyperlink button but then the show still runs. I have tried macros but they do not work properly in a slide show.

Is there any way I can stop a slide show and start up the Acrobat file with one button?

By “the show still runs” do you mean that there is more of the show after the Acrobat file? Or do you mean you want the Acrobat file independent of the show?

What I want to do is to close PowerPoint and start Acrobat when I click the END button in the last slide of the show.

Odd, I would have thought a macro would be the way to accomplish what you want.

You are probably right but I’m afraid I haven’t a clue as to how to go about it.

I can sort out macros (simple ones!) for Word okay but how do you write a macro that closes one app (PowerPoint) and starts another (Acrobat)?

This is probably not exactly what you want, but it is a partial solution. I tried this in Power Point 2000.

If you save your show with the hyperlink as a .pps file and open it from Windows Explorer (or anywhere besides within the Power Point application) it will open directly into the show and the hyperlink will open the Acrobat file. When the Acrobat file is closed, the last slide of the show will appear, and when the show is closed (with two clicks), Power Point will close.

Couldn’t you put what’s in the pdf (image) on the “last” slide?
