A client is attempting to embed an Excel 2000 worksheet that is wide (Columns A through O) and many rows high.

I can’t resize the embedded Excel object in Word to display the desired range. A narrower worksheet range slightly wider than the Word document margins can be adjusted, but not this wider range!

Any suggestions? Is there a size limitation from Excel into Word?

    Thanks,
    Rich

I faced a similar problem in the past, and my solution for the instance was to embed the Excel as an icon.
then, when the reader clicks on it, it will open the application in another window.
beware that it becomes interactive and could be modified, unless you protected certain (or all) cells.
      hope this helps.

Have you tried putting the worksheet on a landscape page in Word?
Have you tried reducing the width of the area in Excel, before copying/pasting it into Word?

Another hint would be to change the view to normal instead of print or page layout then you can resize the object

          Hello y’all,

Thank you for all of your kind suggestions.

I have tried all of your suggestions to no successful result! 🙁

Eventually, this Word document is going to be converted to a PDF, so an icon doesn’t meet our needs.

Turns out, that in the previous edition, someone made an image of the Excel worksheet and put that in the Word document.

I still am interested to know if there exists a limitation someone has uncovered?

          Thanks so much,
          Rich dizzy

There is a width limit to how much Excel worksheet can be pasted into Word – you lose columns from the right if your Excel object is too wide. Refer to this old thread for some hints

If you are going into PDF anyway why don’t you create a PDF page from Excel and then add that page into the PDF created from Word?

If you only need an image … not an embedded worksheet, copy the cells, go to word choose edit paste choose picture(windows metafile). The image will be resized to fit within the margins of the word document.
