Does anyone know of anything else like EditPad? Does anyone use/like EditPad.

    Find it at JGSOFT

I like his idea of software without the bloat. I find it interesting that I had both EditPad and HTML-Kit on my system, and was thinking if only EditPad had a spell check. Then I saw EditPad Pro, but realized all this time I had HTML-Kit, it can work on text files and has a good spell check and thesaurus to boot.

TextPad is my favorite too. I use it all the time to build the Lounge.

        NOw there’s an endorsement.

I’ll go out and buy it straight away.

I’ve used notespad and liked it. I can’t compare it with textpad.

Maybe if I spent a little less time in the lounge I could check it OUT!

          Hi,

I’ve just tried editpad today after haing had Notespad for a while.

Apart from the usual problems of getting used to a new piece of software, I found some nice features I liked. But I started getting some problems with Find and Replace- it stopped working- on several occasions. Sometimes I received a protection error, and twice lost a big hunk of text.

I’ll stick with Notespad just for now, I might try something else later.

      Suprised I haven’t seen Notepad+ from Rogsoft mentioned yet.http://www.mypeecee.org/rogsoft/%5B/url%5D

Meets most of wish list earlier. 1) FREE 2) C coded 3) MDI 4)Stable — least I’ve never tanked it. 5) I’ve opened MB sized files in it.

The search gets flaky on files > 64K

Hasn’t had an update in awhile, either. Author says because it really doesn’t need any since he wants to avoid bloat. It weighs in at 423 KB.

A drop-in replacement for M$ Notepad and fixes most of that program’s lacks.

I use NotePad+, but it’s the first replacement that I’ve used for Notepad, so I don’t know how it compares to the others.

For those that have used TextPad, EditPad, or NotesPad–do they load quickly & use almost no resources?

        So many choice–so little time!

        Thanks in advance.

There’s a few thinngs I like with NotesPad- probably features which are on a few other of the editors:

.When you reopen the application, it reopens documents you had open before
.Short cut keys (Ctr-F, Ctrl-S) work the same as in Word
.It shows me that a file has changed since I’ve opened it
.I’ve got a good list of file types to open- not just “.txt” and “all”
.Showing me the current line and character number
.Lots of levels of undo. Unlike Word, it will continue to undo to a point before I saved the document

      Just a few points…
