Hi Loungers!
After having great success with Easeus Partition Master {recommended here} I decided to give Easeus ToDo Backup Free a try. I did my best to do an objective review comparing it to Acronis 2010 Home {not free} my current imaging solution. Here for your edification and comment are my findings.
Acronis True Image 2010 Baseline:
Bootable Recovery Media – CD works great and allows images to be made w/o Windows running.
Backup Time w/Verification: 35 Minutes
Backup Size: 29 Gb.
Restoration Time: 19 Minutes
Restoration Accuracy: Perfect
EaseUs ToDo Backup Free {current version}
Bootable Recovery Media – USB works great but does NOT allow images to be made w/o Windows running.
Backup Time w/Verification: 30 Minutes
Backup Size: 30 Gb.
Restoration Time {1st try}: 1 Hour!
Restoration Accuracy {1st try}: Worked but something wasn’t perfect as my RoboForm License was missing. All my data was there but it thought I was still on trial and my trial period was up so it wouldn’t allow me to access more than 10 of my passwords!
Restoration Time {2nd try}: 1.5 Hour, I cancelled a this point thinking something was wrong with the image.
— Restored from the Acronis image —
— ReImaged using EaseUs ToDo Backup —
Restoration Time {3rd try}: 2 Hours!
Restoration Accuracy {3rd try}: Same results as 1st try
— Restored once again w/Acronis 19 Minutes!!!

Conclusions:
Since I depend heavily on RoboForm I’ll be sticking with Acronis. The 3 restorations I did with Acronis during this test all worked flawlessly! So I guess this is a case of you get what you pay for!
Regrets:
One of the features of ToDo is the ability to resize partitions as you restore. I didn’t test this feature but would have if the restorations has been successful…a feature I’d like to have.
I liked the bootable USB {using Linux like Acronis boot CD} but missed the ability to do my images from this feature.
I also like free but only if it works!
