I have an HP Probook 4530s that I recently upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 Home. It’s developed a tendency to randomly open the DVD tray. Has anyone else experienced this?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody PlusNovember 3, 2015 at 1:02 pm #1535626As Paul T alludes to, are you sure that someone hasn’t put a “Prankster” program on your computer? There used to be a number of them that do exactly what you describe of the Optical drive tray randomly opening.
Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does

AskWoody PlusNovember 16, 2015 at 12:06 am #1537529I would think if it’s a prank program, that Malwarebytes would have flagged it long ago. This has only been happening since the Windoze 10 “Up” grade. I went into device manager and uninstalled the DVD drive, but when I rebooted, the DVD tray popped open again. I tried using disk manager in MMC to see if there were any error logs, and didn’t find much of interest. I was able to export some XML stuff, but no one in this house understands that except maybe our dog but he’s not talking, just wagging his tail.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 16, 2015 at 5:14 am #1537544Have you tried putting a blank DVD in the drive to see what happens when you close it? There may be something stuck in the queue waiting to be burned. If nothing happens, right click the drive and choose “Delete Temporary Files”. If you cant see the command, navigate to the hidden folder C:UsersusernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsBurnTemporary Burn Folder and delete all the files. If you use a third party program, check it for any pending operations.
