Could it be related to this MS outage?

From the DDG support article Where do DuckDuckGo search results come from?:

… Most of our search result pages feature one or more Instant Answers. To deliver Instant Answers on specific topics, DuckDuckGo leverages many sources, including specialized sources like Sportradar and crowd-sourced sites like Wikipedia. We also maintain our own crawler (DuckDuckBot) and many indexes to support our results. Of course, we have more traditional links and images in our search results too, which we largely source from Bing. Our focus is synthesizing all these sources to create a superior search experience …

The DDG Privacy Policy also states :

Viewing ads on DuckDuckGo Search is anonymous, like the rest of our search results (as described above). Ad clicks are managed by Microsoft’s ad network and Microsoft has committed to not associate your ad-click behavior with a user profile and to not store or share that information other than for accounting purposes.

If you search the DDG support site for “bing” at https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/search/?q=bing you’ll get multiple hits.

Just tried doing a search from the DuckDuckGo.com site and all my browsers (SeaMonkey, Chrome, Edge, Opera) failed with the same error message.

There was an error displaying the search results. Please try again

Also tried bing.com and got a blank page.

So it’s not a EU/Asia only problem!

DDG’s currently acknowledging that they’ve got a problem

It suggests using “bangs” for searching for the time being (e.g. !w to use Wikipedia, etc)

I had the same DDG search problem using Firefox 126.0 at about the same time.

Later on the same day DDG was back to normal for me, as well.
