DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension

I’ve been using this extension in both Chrome and Edge for quite some time but suddenly I’m getting the following error whenever I open either browser.

I tried completely removing it, shutting down the browser, and then reinstalling but that didn’t help!

Anyone else seeing this?

Chrome v126.0.6478.127
Edge v126.0.2592.87

Can’t help with Chrome or Edge I’m afraid, but I have it installed in Firefox and am not seeing any problems there

Both those browsers are Google/Chrome-based; there’s your problem, I would suspect, changes in the browsers.

Works fine in Firefox.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!

We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

We were all once "Average Users".

I’ve been using Privacy Badger in Brave & Chrome for quite awhile and like it a lot.

I switched to it from DuckDuckGo several months ago.

Not sure why because I haven’t changed anything on my PC or in my browsers (i.e. no new installs or updates), but whatever was causing it disappeared yesterday and I’m no longer getting the failed to load properly errors.

FYI, the extension hasn’t been updated (still shows June 14 2024 as last update) but from a few hits I found on the internet and some reviews posted on the extensions download site, I wasn’t the only one who experienced this.

Maybe it was some sort of DNS issue??

They made a change. You have to delete and reinstall it. The catch is you have to use their browser as the default.
