I know I can drag an email message to the calendar and a new appointment will open, on which I can set the date, time, reminder, etc.

Is it possible to save a step and drag the message to an exact date, maybe even an exact time? I can’t find a way to view my calendar and my Inbox at the same time, so my dragging options seem limited. Is this by design or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance,
    Erik

You can open the Calendar in a New (separate) Window by right clicking its Folder or Navgation Pane icon, then drag-&-drop the message; however, in a brief test, it looks like you can only drop the message on a date, not the exact time.

… and then of course, once its on the correct date, you can drag it to the correct time (to the nearest resolution interval) by doing the dragging in the calendar’s day pane.

You can? I can’t in XP. If during the drag I point the pointer on say 11:00 AM, and drop the message, the time selected is the start of the business day for the default time interval, not the time I’m pointing to. Can you provide a bit more detail on how you can select the time in drag-&-drop? Or do you just mean that once it is created and saved, then you can drag it to the desired time slot?

          Yes – that’s what I meant

Thanks for the answers. I doubt I’ll use this solution, though, because my goal was to reduce the number of steps; with all the resizing of windows (to make dragging possible without my fullsized Inbox covering the calendar window) and changing of views (my week-view won’t fit in the small calendar window that pops up), I end up taking more steps, not fewer.
