I use WinXP SP3, IE 8, Outlook 2003, and Home and Student Office 2007 – all installed from Legit. MS CD’s and kept updated. I have Trend Micro Internet Security installed and running and kept up to date. Suddenly a couple of weeks ago, a problem appeared which I had never experienced before.
I found that when I start an email download, and just before the first item starts to download, a Windows Installer window opens up, starting with “Initialising”, and then rambles on through several other messages (including: “Please wait while Windows Configures Microsoft Office Home and Student . . . . . . . .”) and downloading. It eventually closes after a several minutes, and then the email download resumes it’s normal progress without further interruption. There is no visible effect seen, or felt regarding the alleged configuration, and the very next time I start another email download, the identical silly Windows Installer process starts up. After this happened a few times, I found the simple work-around of clicking the Cancel button on the Installer window as soon as it appears, and after a couple of seconds, the window closes and the email download resumes. I don’t remember installing any new software or modifications in the days immediately before the problem raised it’s silly head.
Has anybody else experienced this/similar problem, and is there a fix? Thanks in Anticipation
