Doubling HDMI or DVI outputs?

Just upgraded to new Asus board to run faster AMD chip with 64-bit Win 7 pro. Board has one (each) HDMI and DVI video output. Question now is how to run dual monitors with either output although I’d prefer HDMI. Can either of these interfaces be split or chained somehow. Or will it be necessary to invest in another video card (or two) to drive the monitors? Before upgrade I had a video card with 2 outputs. Perfornce considerations aside, must I necessarily do this again?

Here’s what I know:
You need 2 Video connectors to run Dual monitors, no chaining allowed.
On a previous PC I had 1 HDMI & 1 VGA and successfully ran 2 monitors off of them by getting a VGA to HDMI converter.

Here’s a guess:
I think what you need is either a HDMI to DVI or DVI to HDMI converter.
However, if you have 2 monitors one with HDMI & 1 DVI I’d give it a try just connecting the two then setting Windows to use 2 Monitors via your video cards software or directly through windows. :cheers:

Personally I’d go the route of getting a decent Video card to run two monitors off of, as opposed to on-board GPU.
The upgrade you did was good, but it’s incomplete without a separate & decent GPU card.
