Hello you two.
What is this legacy mode in the BIOS ? I do not think that my BIOS was modified at all on this 4 year old Acer. Is this referring to the new BIOS, I forget the acronym ! would this only apply to OEM machines that came loaded with W-8 ? ( UFIE ? )

UEFI has to be supported by the motherboard itself; it’s not like a BIOS update. If your motherboard is 4 years old, you don’t have UEFI.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!

We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

We were all once "Average Users".

Thank you Bear. So, if I needed to backtrack from W-8 to W-7, it would not be a problem ? No need yet but one should be aware of any stump. Jean.

No, you wouldn’t likely have a problem. Just make sure you have drivers for all your hardware.
