Scams everywhere and I’ve noticed an uptick in cell scams lately.

We have the Ring mailbox sensor & hub, too.ย ย ย ย  It works, given the 100′ range we need, but it eats batteries every 4 months, if lucky.ย ย ย ย ย  Winter cold is even shorter.

Thanks! Received my notice yesterday afternoon…I’ve been retired for almost 17 years & deleting this type of message for a lot longer…’this ain’t my first rodeo’! And yes I try to keep family & friends informed.

I just got this one again today. A single very scam-y spam-y over-the-top text showing it was from 3 different phone numbers.

I also found it interesting to see that they know Iโ€™m on an iphone.

Yes, I’ve seen the request to use your Safari browser before. Does this mean the hacker is trying to get into the iPhone? What makes the iPhone an especially valuable target??

I wonder if anyone with an Android phone received the same text.ย  After all, I get email all the time from bad actors with respect to well-known banks and businesses with whom I have no relationship.ย  But the laws of probability for mass mailing/texting give the sender a good chance that their payload will reach someone that does have such a relationship.

That’s true. I can speak from experience. Not too long ago I received a text message on my iPhone telling me that a package that was being delivered USPS Sure-Post was being held up because of a zip-code problem and that I had to verify my mailing address to have the package released, using Safari. Coincidently, I was expecting a UPSP delivery.
But I did a web search and found this information: USPS parcel scam texts.

Wow, this one looks scary slick. I’ll be emailing the graphic to a few friends that have a history of impulsive clicking.
