Does XP have a system.mdw file? (Windows XP)

I’m looking for the system.mdw file that seems to have been in every other Windows release but not this one. Did they change the file extension? I’m looking for this in regards to Access Database security settings (creating user accounts and passwords). Could someone please provide me with the correct file extension?

That’s actually an Access question, not an XP or Windows question. If you don’t have Access installed, you won’t have system.mdw. On my Windows XP system with Access 2000, it’s in C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystem.

As dmartin noted, a .mdw file belongs to Microsoft Access, not to Windows. Its default location in Windows XP is in the folder

C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftAccess

Since Application Data is a hidden folder, you must display hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer in order to see this file.
