I’ve been using a POP client for my business email for a long time (both Outlook and Thunderbird) with heavy use of rules. I’ve been wanting to be able to check my mail on a tablet, but any replies I make when I am forced to use the web interface remain on the server, not on my primary PC. However, I refuse to allow my business email to exist only on a server (and would want to actually clear old message from the server, since they tend to shut down if you reach your storage limit). Is there a way for a MAPI client to automatically synch all email I send from other devices? Or any other recommended approach for people who want to be sure there is a complete, local master copy of all their business email? Thanks for any input…

Thanks! I keep hearing that as an option, and plan to experiment with it, but it seems like it might not produce the clean “from / to” information you would want to make it easy to follow a thread. It seems like it should be possible (or at least, desirable) for one designated workstation to be in synch with what is on the server but also to control what is retained on it over time. The ideal thing would be for that workstation to delete mail from the server if it is deleted on the workstation (the way a POP client does) but also delete it automatically after a suitable time period (say, 30 days). That eliminates the problem of missing mail due to a “mailbox full” status without losing important old mail.
