• Document with same type pages (Word 97)

I am trying to develop a document for use in a record log. I have set up the initial document to contain the wanted information. What I want to do now is to have successive pages contain the same text as the initial page when the first page is filled up/completed.

I tried making the initial document a template but the subsequent pages are still blank. I’m wondering if Styles is the way to go but I know so little about them I am hesitant to try it.

    Thanks in advance,

Why not make yourself an autotext entry? If you want an entire new sheet to be entered on a subsequent page, you should be able to select everything on page one, hit Insert-Autotext, New. Give it a name that is otherwise not a word, such as “xxx”. Then, when you get to the bottom of page 1/top of page 2, just type xxx and hit Enter, and you should now have a new (not-completed) page of your record log.

SDGardella, I do not have an answer, but I am in sympathy with your request. It would seem that making a document with each page set up the same (without user intervention) would be a basic word-processing function. But perhaps not. …JTill

If I got it right, you want to have a standard text repeated on every page within one document. There are to easy ways to do this:
      1) Place the text to be repeated in the header of this document. (You may access the header by menu “View/Header and Footer”). Everything you place inside the header will be repeated on every page of your document as long as you do not define multiple sections or set the “different first page” flag in page setup.
      2) Create a table and place the text in the top row(s) of the table. Mark this row/those rows and format them with menu “Table/Heading Rows Repeat”. If you place your log text into the following rows, the heading row(s) will be repeated on top of every page as long as your table runs.

Styles on the other hand are a very powerful tool to format your text, but, as far as I know, they can’t be used to store any textual content.

Sounds more like a Form used to view a table in a database. If you do this in word, the table with repeating headings sounds like a possibility, but it really sounds like a job for a database.
