I installed Office XP on 6 machines at work (all in the same room, all with Windows 2K and Office 97). I did a typical install, and took all the defaults – didn’t delete any old 97 programs though (except Outlook, of course). On ONE machine, the document map font is so tiny it’s like it’s Greeking. I went to Styles, Custom and the font is Tahoma 10 – same as the others. I changed it to Tahoma 18 to see what would happen. It got a bit larger, but not enough to read it. I deleted normal.dot and rebooted the PC. That didn’t help. The machines are set up exactly the same. Any ideas why it did this… or better yet, how to fix it?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 24, 2003 at 5:22 am #655919Do the 6 computers w/ XP have the same graphics cards?
Are they all using the same view?
On the toolbar is the zoom setting the same for each computer?
Is this happening with various files that have map – or specific files (like ones saved from 97?)
Are the 6 computers all using the same printer? -

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 24, 2003 at 2:19 pm #656032Yes, all 6 PCs have same graphics card.
It doesn’t seem to matter what view she is in – we’ve switched it around and tried the others.
Zoom is 100%, but that doesn’t matter either – we’ve tried different. And, we’ve set it the same as the others.
Happens to all files, regardless of what version they were created in.
Yes, all PCs are using the same printer and printer drivers.
I’m stumped. Thanks for the questions – made me double check some things. -

AskWoody_MVPFebruary 24, 2003 at 3:05 pm #656053Are all machines using the SAME view, i.e., Normal, Web, Print or Outline? I have seen some machines displaying real small letters when in the Normal zoomed 100%, but when view in the Print mode it looks OK.
