On the Visual tab of the editor, if you click the last regular toolbar button “Toggle Toobar (Shift+Alt+Z)” you get an additional row of toolbar buttons.

Don’t use the toolbar button “A ▼ (Text Color)” to change the text color.

It will look fine until you post the message where upon it turns into unrecognized HTML tag code like span style=”color: #ff0000;” … span within less and greater symbols.

So here are some BBCodes to set text color:

gray red green blue

Here is the result of using them:
gray red green blue

The use of color in replies has been discouraged in many fora, not just here. For one thing, it invites additional spam attention to the site, and can also cause html issues that need manually addressing by our hard-working volunteer moderators.
It can be very distracting when reading forum threads – some assume their every post to be important enough to use color to get attention, when it is only attention-seeking, and not relevant to the value of their content.

It is acceptable in signatures, when used appropriately.

OK. I will omit colours in future posts.

(Now that I just figured out how to put them in. )
