If MSFT starts charging for Win7 and Win8.1 patches and updates will they guarantee that they will work and stop borking our machines?

What recourse would we have against MSFT for a bad update?

I wish we could simply expect transparency on matters like a product’s future from a large company such as Microsoft. These types of rumors and lack of a concrete answer from Microsoft have turned me off the path of Windows 10. Maybe once MS starts releasing some clear cut info on the “spying”, and updates, I’ll be more inclined to take the plunge.

Sorry for a basic question, but do I understand correctly that DEFCON is for non-security updates only ? You do recommend to apply security updates as soon as they are offered, don’t you ?

Given Microsoft’s horrendous record with security patches, the DEFCON status is for both security and non-security updates.

I must say to that i was at the point where i was thinking myself to buying a new desktop Computer with Windows 10. Then i got thinking if i did that. I be letting Microsoft win.
