I am a new member of a club of 25. I get regular e-mails with the indivudual members’ e-maill addresses in the TO: header. Is there any way I can transfer that list to my own distributuin list without individually adding their names? Right now, when I want to send mail to everyone, I find an old e-mail, click Reply All, delete the old message and create my new one. Cumbersome, but it works.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 13, 2012 at 6:08 pm #1340806I have Outlook 2007 but I assume 2010 has a similar procedure:
From Outlook help:
Create a distribution list by copying names from an e-mail message
1.In the message that you want to copy the names from, select the names in the To or Cc box.
2.Right-click your selection, and then click Copy on the shortcut menu.
3.Click the Microsoft Office Button, and under Create New Outlook Item, click Distribution list.
4.On the Distribution List tab, in the Members group, click Select Members.
5.At the bottom of the Select Members dialog box, in the Members box, right-click and then click Paste on the shortcut menu.Note A member does not need to be in your Address Book in order to be added to the distribution list. The member’s name and e-mail address will be included when you copy and paste from the original e-mail message.
6.Click OK.
7.In the Name box, type a name for the distribution list.
8.On the Distribution List tab, in the Actions group, click Save & Close -

AskWoody LoungerJuly 13, 2012 at 6:23 pm #1340809In Outlook 2010 is a bit more contrived. Distribution lists were replaced by Contact Groups. To create one, choose Contacts in the navigation pane and then New Contact Group in the Home tab. Give it a name and choose Add Members->From Address Book. You will get a dialog with a text box labeled as members at the bottom. Here you can paste your email addresses list and then click the OK button. Choose Save & Close in the Contact Group tab and you’re done.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 15, 2012 at 4:02 pm #1341035Well, it almost worked. Everythying worked fine until I tried to use the list. All names were rejected by the System Administrator. I noticed that each address was enclosed in single quotation marks. I tried to edit the group in the Address book but was unable to. How can I modify the list, short of exporting it to Word and reimporting?
