Does anyone know if you can display the markup lines on the left or right margin, but not show the text with strike throughs? We would like to show there was a change with the lines only.
    Thanks…Susan

In Word 2002 (XP), you can display deleted text in a balloon in the margin instead of a strikethrough text if you’re in Print Layout or Web Layout. You can set this in the Track Changes tab of Tools | Options…

        Hi Hans:
Do you know if there a way to only print the lines and not the balloons?

          Sorry, I don’t. Perhaps someone else knows…

In word 2000 you can define all the options for tracked changes under Tools > Track Changes > Highlight Changes > Options. You can define inserted text, deleted text, changed formatting and changed lines. For example, you can set deleted text as a strikethrough with the colour white or inserted text as underline with the colour violet.
Does anyone know where to find this option in word XP?
        Thanks..Susan

In Word 2003, you can set the options for tracked changes from Tools > Options, then the Tracked Changes tab. You can set Insertions to (none) and Deletions to (none) and I presume that would leave you with just the line in the margin (which you can specify as right, left or outside margin). Is it the same in XP?

Microsoft forgot that box. Oops! To change the “deleted text mark” you can visit the Visual Basic editor (VBE). Please see this post: Re: Track Changes show deletions as strikethrough (XP)
