Following Susan’s blurb and this thread, I just updated my Win 10 Pro from 2004 to 20H2.  Went pretty fast.

I’ve rebooted a few times and now run both
    sfc /scannow and
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    Results are clean.

    But question #1 – When i run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, it says
    Version 10.0.19041.844
    Image Version 10.0.19042.870
Why this difference, and should I care?

And question #2 – Someone commented here that the only difference between 2004 and 20H2 is some type of “Experience” reporting to MS.  Is that correct?  Should I turn off that “Experience” reporting to MS, and how can I do that?

    Thanks.

2004 and 20H2 have the same base, get the same CUs and SSUs.
That is why you see 19041 (the 2004 base).
The difference is, in 20H2, the Feature Experience Pack switch is turned on to give you the extra features that define 20H2. That is the 19042 you see. When you upgrade from 2004 to 20H2, it just turns on the additional 20H2 Features.

When i run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, it says
      Version 10.0.19041.844
      Image Version 10.0.19042.870

In other words, what dism is telling you is that the version number of dism you’re running is 10.0.19041.844, and that the version of Windows you’re asking it to check or work on is version 10.0.19042.870.

As @PKCano has stated just above, this can be a normal thing, based upon the current installation of Windows on the machine. For example, I’m on 20H2 with KB5000802 installed for the March updates (and NO printer problems whatsoever) and my current build number is 19042.867, with a dism version number of 19041.844.

I hope this helps others reading this thread, as that’s not the first time I’ve seen this same question posed on the boards recently.
