When retrieving my mail, the send/receive window shows that there are X messages being received. Once finished s/r sometimes I find less then X messages in the Inbox? Any explanation?

Spam filter or other rules running?

Nothing that should delete messages, only moving them (the missing messages are also not there).

I re-checked my rules (I have messages from specific senders moved to specific folders). The name of the specific folders are correct in the rules window, but when clicking on them they do not jump to the right folder. Now I have reselected the folder and it may work…maybe.
FYI, I have moved my outlook file from one computer to another, but the rules did not seem affected. When a folder used for rules is not existing anymore, Outlook used to give me an error message.

I think that is a change from Outlook 2000, where the rules were stored externally (outside the .PST in a .RWZ file). Not sure if you’ve found the solution, but I hope you have! I still use 2000 and that was pretty much my only theory. smile

I have re-edited the rules and today it seems to work fine; there are messages moved by the rules.
I think what I did change is where my email gets delivered twice. We are sharing a laptop and a desktop with my wife and I’m moving our current PST files and then set where the email gets delivered. Now after changing it back to my PST file, it seems that Outlook keeps the rules and all the info displayed in the rules window is ok; but the link behind the folders is broken.
I believe I have my solution, or at least a way to avoid the problem which is still in Outlook. Thanks.

Would not addresses that you have (if any) tagged as ‘junk’ or ‘adult’ be deleted as they come in, explaining some difference???

I don’t think so, I have those messages moved to another folder which I check quickly before deleting. I also know a few of the messages that have disappeared and they should not be caught by junk or adult filters.
