Shown in the yellow rectangle these Windows 10 desktop notifications interrupt my work and video meetings. I’ve tried configuring these several times, unsuccessfully. I need to be able to reliably…

1.) Disable/enable the water droplet sound which accompanies them, and

    2. Disable/enable both the visual pop-ups and the sounds.

I’ve tried fiddling with Windows 10 on my own and haven’t found the proper combinations to stop these, in the order in which I’ve requested.

Is someone hip to how to find and disable/enable these when I want to?

These examples happen to be from Zoom. Periodically it seems I’m also getting visual pop-ups from my Google Calendar. But Google Calendar was not integrated (with my knowledge) with Windows’ desktop. In a web browser, Google Calendar’s notifications shows it is not allowed to play sounds for its desktop notifications. I use Google Calendar only in web browsers or in its dedicated app on my smartphone.

Your kind help will be most appreciated in this. Thank you.

Here are two additional screenshots I found with some more nosing around. Yes, I know I enabled Zoom to interact with Google Calendar and I like that. No, I didn’t enable sound on the desktop notifications.

Does this Zoom application have a clickable entry listed Settings>System>Notifications & ActionsGet notifications from these senders section ?

Try these directions, Upcoming Meeting Reminders.

Some other possibilities, a first (Notifications for group messaging) and second (Changing meeting settings).

Thanks. I dunno. Although I already looked through those kind’a settings twice. I’ll look again and also have a look at the links you sent. I also sent a support request to Zoom and I’m awaiting their reply.

Were you aware of sever security bug with Zoom ?

series of security flaws in popular video-conferencing service Zoom left its users vulnerable to spying, denial of service attacks from unauthorized sites, and the potential installation of malware, according to a report from security researcher Jonathan Leitschuh. In a statement, Zoom says it has since addressed the security issues through recent app updates, and will offer users more control over their video settings in a forthcoming update, along with a tool for removing all traces of Zoom from Mac devices should concerned users want to completely uninstall the app and its related services…

Nope. I wasn’t. Thanks much 🙂 I generally apply most publisher’s updates in a timely fashion. So I’d already run Zoom’s patches. And when I delete software I run trace cleaners. I also run robust security settings on each machine I administer which would likely catch the sort of behavior described in the article.

      Thank you anonymous 🙂

I’d a look at all three articles you sent. They were helpful. Especially because at the bottom of one of them the very same desktop notification icon which I see is shown. So I’ve provisionally stopped pointing an accusatory finger at Windows 😉

It seems that 1.) I’d already disabled Zoom’s meeting reminders via its account (web) control panel when I started seeing that need, and that 2.) its settings for group Chat notifications don’t currently have a sound toggle option, and 3.) because I’m understandably impatient with software publisher’s DIY settings I’d not seen Zoom’s “changing meeting settings” page.

I figger I’ll wait for some upcoming meetings this week and see how Zoom behaves, and see if they actually answer my support ticket request to them. I’ll post something here if/when they do.

In your second screenshot, does “(via Micro…” mean Edge?

I think you may need to check Edge menu, Settings, Site permissions, Notifications.

In your second screenshot, does “(via Micro…” mean Edge?

A worthy question, that. Lemme see if I can check….

I use Edge for only unfiltered, unworried searches. I use different browsers from different publishers with a bunch’a add-ons and customizations to prevent tracking and I leave Edge alone, except for disabling Microsoft’s insidious telemetries.

I’d estimated the trace would be Microsoft “Calendar” because that’s the program with which Google would most likely request a handshake… but it’s impossible to easily tell. Changing the Windows text size doen’t help enough to show enough text. A Windows OS hack which would reduce the text size to maybe 75% could work if you happened to know a way for that.

In looking just now at Edge’s “notifications” I don’t see a tab for that. And on that machine I don’t see any website permissions granted to any thing. In fact, every time Microsoft Store tries to connect, via Edge, with Microsoft’s heinously insecure and/or outdated security certs, I’m told by third-party software that Microsoft’s connection was blocked 🙂
