I want to disable the spell checker in Word97 on a standalone laptop computer. I ran setup and removed the components, but still the spell checker works? I’ve installed on a clean Windows98 machine to test again and this is what I did…

    Installed Office97 Pro

“Disable” as you type? If so, click Tools, then Options, and then uncheck “check spelling as you type.”

No I mean disable completely, as in remove, so that a student using the computer for a written exam can’t use the spell checker.

got it sorted now… the set of files with a .lex file extension are what make the spell checking work. Deleting these from the local drive stops the spell check working.
