Are the 2 Mega pixels digital cameras good enough for 4×6 print out?

I printed a 4×6 from a 3 Mega pixels camera before. The result was excellent. I want to make sure the result will be acceptable before I purchase a downgraded 2 Mega pixels digital camera.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – what’s good enough for me may not be good enough for you!

It also depends on the quality of your printer – it could be that if it is not up to reproducing the 3 Mega pixel fully, “downgrading” to a 2 Mega pixel image would show no perceivable difference.
If you still have the 3mp file, try printing it 50% bigger (9 x 6) then trim the result to 6×4 – that should give you an indication of whether or not you would be happy.

Of course, there is more to the quality of the captured digital image than the resolution. Any review of digital cameras will show you a wide variation in sharpness, colour balance etc. I would try and find a review of the camera you have in mind and see what the experts think – or thought.
