I’m using Perfect Disk 10 and in a folder I found both .msi files. There must be a difference, and I would like to know what? Also, which one Windows XP Home Edition uses?

Since both are large in size, can I remove the one that does not apply to my system?

    Thanks.

The x64.msi version is the installer for the 64-bit version of Windows, while the x86.msi version is the installer for the default 32-bit version of Windows.

From your previous posts, I think you have the standard version, so you wouldn’t need the 64-bit version. In fact, if you have already installed PerfectDisk, you need neither version of the installers… But it you would ever want to reinstall, you’d need x86.msi.

It’s installed all right and doing a good job.
Thanks for the information. since I purchased the program I can reinstall it at any time without those two files.

I also have PerfectDisk 10 and don’t have either of those .msi files on my computer. I would think if you’re concerned about space you can delete them both.

But if she does that Al, and she ever has to reinstall PerfectDisk, I think that she may have to pay for and download it again? Perhaps I’m wrong, but why not simply keep the .msi file???

… she may have to pay for and download it again …

You may be right, John, I don’t know. It turns out that Gloria DIDN’T give us the complete scoop and I didn’t catch it which I should have. What she gave is NOT the file name. See attached. The copies on my drive go back to 2006. I guess I never look because PD is one of ’em that I have set to notify me and when it does, I just install, rather than download and doing it myself. I guess it brings down the .msi file then.

        Hi Friend,

No, I’m not in need of space, just have a neat fetish, as you should be aware.

I’ve edited this post to add: I’ve kept Perfect Disk_x86 because as was posted here, I just might need to install it again and I, have no idea about whether or not I’d have to purchase it again.

Better safe than sorry, don’t you agree?

        Gloria

I’m not a neatness freak, but I am a hoarder.

If I buy software on line, I always burn a copy to disk and include a text file of the license details and url. Then I install the software. That way, if anything ever happens to my HDD I have all the software on disk. Yes, takes up a bit of space under my desk, but make me sleep well at night.

Now all I need is a neatness freak to come and sort those disks so I can find what I need!
