If Firefox suddenly forgot all of your passwords in the past day or so, blame Avast. It looks like Avast Antivirus and AVG Antivirus are both blocking

I’m glad I saw your post about that issue. A user was complaining about it on a French site earlier today,  had not found anything about it at this moment. Now it makes sense, AVG and Avast released quickly a fix.   The user said the issue resolved by itself.  Thanks!

Always been suspicious/ dismissive of browsers as password storing locations, after all, it’s predominantly a browser with bells and whistles. Remember it’s the first point of contact with the internet. Bearing this in mind I personally prefer to use a dedicated encrypted password manager with only one humongous passphrase to remember.

@Microfix:  Hoping that someone other than myself has problems getting graphics into their email program (Yahoo).   Suddenly I have no way to get graphics sent in my e-mails, and suspect that it could be Firefox instead of Yahoo.  Anyone else having problems with this??

I stopped using AVG years ago when it began to bloat up with more then what I needed in a AV solution. Defender works well in the background and does what I need it to do.

I write my passwords down on a paper memo pad.  No problem, but that’s me and I don’t hundreds of passwords.

Even astrophysicist Carl Sagan when speaking astronomically used Billions, not Trillions.

I do the exact same thing. I don’t trust things like password managers. Like what happens if those get hacked? A notepad is 100% hack proof. Won’t stop someone if they get a hold of your notepad though.

As for Avast, it was an AV I used to absolutely swear by. But it started doing some things. I don’t want to say shady. But I remember it would give me pop ups saying things like “We have a gift for you” and it was a link to buy the full version of the AV. Also I found it just started slowing down my computer. So I ditched Avast in favor of Malwarebytes years ago. There is one Avast product I still use which is CCleaner. But even that is starting to do some shady stuff. I’ve heard people say that it installed Avast on their computer without asking for example. I use the portable version of CCleaner which doesn’t have that issue. But still.

I use PasswordSafe which is not linked to my browser and has been ported to Android OS so that I can use it on both my phone and tablet with the same master password.  It can be configured in a lot of different ways and I never have to worry about something going wrong when there is a Windows or Android update.
