Diagonal Calculation in Excel (Excel 2003)

I have a list of data in Column A that I need to have the first number subtract the second number and put the result in Cell (B2) Then have the second number subtract the third number and put the result in Cell (C3). Then have the third number subtract the fourth number and put the result in Cell D4. Add so on and so on until all of the data is calculated Then fill all of the cells up to the top row-1 with the result from each Cell.

You could enter this formula in B2:

=IF(ROW()=COLUMN(),$A2-$A3,IF(ROW()>COLUMN(),"",B3))

Fill down to B61, then fill right to column BI.

Tried the formula , filled down and to the right. The formula only calculated a result in Cell B2?
