Which is to say, it doesn’t seem to go online and check at all when I click on update driver and then search automatically (local and Internet) for drivers. It takes about .2 seconds and then slaps up the Windows has determined its up to date. This has happened on the two systems I’ve tried it on now and I know its not checking the Internet in .2 seconds. So is it broken or is there a different methodology I should be using now besides searching out the drivers myself and placing them locally and then try and hold 7’s hand and lead it to them?
I’m trying to update the drivers for a NIC that is not working very well in 7 but purrs like a kitten with a full tummy in XP, but if I needed it, XP would do a very good job of searching and almost always pull down a more recent driver. The one 7 says is up to date is from Feb. of ’08 and its a RealTek NIC, one of the better companies for releasing updated drivers so there should be an updated driver by now for 7. Correct?
Ok, I just checked and the most recent driver for the NIC has a release date of 12.22.09 so I’ll try the manual method but the question still remains wether or not there is a different approach to updating than the one I’m accustomed to having work well in XP.
