Dell on Windows 10 no drivers

I have a Dell Inspiron 620, running Windows 7 64 bit Professional. Dell’s website advises that there are no Windows 10 drivers being developed.

What is my best course of action? If I wait until Microsoft rams Windows 10 down my throat, what impact will this have?
I do not know if I need ANY Dell drivers, but how can I tell?

Sounds like Dell is abandoning the Inspiron 620 you have, other than win 7 drivers to get back to original configuration.
I would guess that you have a couple of options,
1- See if there are any win 10 drivers from whatever manufacturers the hardware came from so that you can D/L them to a separate disc/thumbdrive.
2- Let win 10 do it’s thing and see if it finds the drivers you need.
3- Block win 10
NOTE: Make an image or clone of your present system BEFORE all this happens. I recommend a clone so that you can just change HDD’s and be back to where you were if things really get ugly.

Generally, I’ve seen where the GWX icon shows up then most things on the computer will work. I’ve done a few that I upgraded from WinXP to Win7 w/SP1 and the Win10 Upgrade worked fine, on is a Dell Studio 17/1747 that had Win7. Another is a Dell Inspiron N5010 and a newer Dell Inspiron 15 needed new Bluetooth drivers. I’ve seen only one Notebook that couldn’t be upgraded because it lacked support for PAE/Physical Address Extension and wouldn’t install Linux Mint 17 but the older Linux Mint 13 works just fine, has to with the CPU being an older Centrino M.

A week ago I acquired a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop tower (Vista). I deleted the three existing partitions from the WD 500GB HDD, then clean-installed Win7 Home SP1 x64 (OEM).

Win7 setup installed all necessary drivers except for the nVidia VGA card which I downloaded from nVidia. It failed to activate automatically, but “activate by phone” worked.

After I finished setting up Win7 I imaged the HDD (just in case) then ran the Win10 upgrade. No problems during the upgrade, and the only problem after the upgrade completed was “Network and Sharing Center” mis-identified my network as “Public” with “No Internet access”.

After some fiddling I found that after disabling then re-enabling the adapter the network was correctly identified as “Private” with Internet access. But after rebooting the PC it would again be mis-identified as “Public” with “No Internet access”, and I would have to do the disable/enable thing again to get Internet access.

I tracked the cause down to the adapter’s power management settings in “Device Manager”. Unticking the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” checkbox fixed the problem. Don’t ask me why Win10 would turn off power to the network adapter immediately after Win10 started up.
