Not sure how I got this but a piece of software installed itself on my Laptop. I’m using Windows 11 Home edition 23H2 build 22631.4541. The Folder on my C drive is Titled ReasonLabs which set up housekeeping on November 21, 2024. I have tried to uninstall it which doesn’t work. It shows the process of being uninstalled but stops and sits at 99%. I have tried a third party software uninstaller titled Uninstalr which gets caught in a loop and sits at 99% as well.

I haven’t tried to delete this folder in fear that this is not the correct approach to the problem.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated

Try the free portable GeekUninstaller right-click and select ‘force Removal’ . wait for deleting registry entries as well.

You can try Revo Uninstaller Free and perhaps use the ‘Hunter’ module to force uninstall program remnants.
Right now they have 70% off on a 2 yr Pro license as well.

      Cheers

      We also use Revo Uninstaller.

      Once downloaded and installed:

      • Open the app.,
      • Sort the programs by Install Date
      • Put a check in the box associated with the app. you want to uninstall (it should be at the top of the list),
      • Click Uninstall,
      • Let Revo create a restore point,
      • Uninstall the unwanted program,
      • Than scan for detritus,
      • Check the bold items in the leftovers list,
      • See if there is anything else to do, and
      • Then you should be done.

Revo in straight forward and relatively simple to use.

At a minimum, we use it once a month after updating Windows to remove any new unwanted Microsoft software.

I did a quick search out of curiosity and I found this thread, where the poster has detailed instructions that worked for him/her.

This is a really hard program to remove but after messing around with it I was able to find a way to delete it. If you haven’t deleted it yet or accidentally redownload it, heres a fix that worked for me.

For programs I used Wise Force Deleter and Lock Hunter. First, I used Lock Hunter in order to see what tasks were open and preventing ReasonLabs from being deleted (3 tasks were open for me). Then I looked for those 3 tasks in task manager. Once u find them, right click them, go to properties – security – Advanced, and then click on the button that says “Disable Inheritance.” Once thats done, click Apply, and do the same for the next tasks (Since 3 reason labs tasks were running you do the same thing to the other 2). Also if you see any other tasks that have the words “Reason” on them you should do the same thing to them as well (Right click and go to properties to make sure the location for that task is set to the ReasonLabs folder to be sure) Once you disable the inheritance for all of the ReasonLabs tasks, go back to Lock Hunter, press “other” and click on “Terminate Locking process.” Once thats done it should say “No processes locking this folder have been found.” Finally, open Wise Force Deleter and click on “Add Folder.” Add the ReasonLabs folder. Click on “Ok” and it should be deleted!
