Am I correct in thinking that in Outlook 2000, there is no way to both queue messages in the Outbox until pressing Send/Receive, AND to have it automatically check for new messages every x minutes? Ideally I would like to be able to leave messages in the outbox until I want to send them, but check for new messages frequently (this is in IPO mode, connected via broadband).

    Thanks,

    Alex

You are correct. A workaround would be to choose Save instead of Send when you have finished preparing an email. That way, your messages can accumulate in your Drafts folder. You would, however, have to actually do the sending one by one when you wanted to “bulk” process them. HTH

Thanks for the reply. A ridiculous system if you ask me, but what more could we expect from Microsoft?! Almost there, but just not quite… (I know that XP does have the option, but still find it amazing that 2000 doesn’t).

FWIW Outlook has generally been the poor relation in the core Office suite. Outlook 2000 was a definite step forward from 98 which was way ahead of 97. Some material strides were taken with Office 2003, but it could be argued that there is still room for improvement.

I thought you could schedule a message to be sent at a particular time. Maybe that’s only with an Exchange Server? If that works with POP3 accounts, you could set the time to tomorrow to prevent it from going out….. yeah, it’s not pretty.
