We here use Outlook 97. I know, I know, but it’s what we have. The main trouble is that we don’t use it for email. It, however, insists on making itself the default mail client. Letting another program take that priviledge back renders Outlook unusable (linked to missing export mapi32.dll, or some such message).

Anyone now how to make this work? (without upgrading?) grin

not really – is there any chance you can upgrade to outlook 98? it’s a legal upgrade to 97, but you need to already have a copy – it’s withdrawn and very difficult to aquire anymore.

When you say legal upgrade, do you mean free? That would be possible. As it is, we don’t officially support Outlook 97 due to it’s bugginess. I have been able to break a couple of installs so that the problem didn’t happen, but it’s not a consistent fix, nor elegant.

Any idea where I might begin looking for this upgrade. Microsoft.com has no mention of it.

legal in that office 97 qualifies for the free upgrade, but ms withdrew it from their downloads due to age.

you need to have a cd with it on to install. if your company subscribes to msdn, thats the easiest route to go – it’s on the msdn cds. otherwise, check the book store for some discontinued books about outlook 98 – some include a full working copy on cd.
