Default format for messages created by “Send To”

Greetings fellow Outlookers!

I don’t use Word as my default Email editor in Outlook 2003, preferring instead to have my default messages be in HTML format with a font selection I’ve chosen for what I think promotes clarity and readability. I have an automatic signature added to new messages and replies and, on the whole, I’m pleased with how my messages look.

If, however, I want to use the convenience of the “Send To” option on a right-click menu while in Windows Explorer, my chosen file is attached to the empty message that opens, but the format of that message bears no relation to my chosen format and my auto-signature is omitted.

While not a show-stopper, it is, nevertheless, an annoyance. Is there a way this can be changed such that messages so created can be in my default format?

It might not be possible to customize Send To (judging by the response of the past 30 days), but you might be able to write a VBScript that automates Outlook to create a new message (which should be in the default format) and then attach the file. I haven’t tried to code that up.

as far as I am aware, the Send To menu option will only render the message in Plain text by design. as a company we have Outlook set to RTF or HTML for our automatic email signatures, but any Send To email is always in Plain text, but you can change this by going to the Options menu when in the message, and choose a different option from the drop down menu in Outlook 2003.

In Outlook 2007, it under the Options tab of the new message, but Word as your editor choice is no longer available and everyone uses the standard editor supplied with Outlook (as Office 2007 uses Word as the default HTML editor now instead of IE).
