The ICSI Netalyzr: “The Netalyzr analyzes various properties of your Internet connection that you should care about — including blocking of important services, HTTP caching behavior and proxy correctness, your DNS server’s resilience to abuse, NAT detection, as well as latency & bandwidth measurements — and reports its findings in a detailed report. You can check out an example report from a real network to get a better idea of our tests.”

For me, perhaps others, an informative, though technical report. For example, my results show “No DNS Port Randomization” as a “Major Abnormality,” but I have no idea how to address that problem.

Interesting, but probably far too technical for home users.

(The only “anomaly” of my connection was that some outgoing protocols are blocked by my firewall)

Very interesting. I had one anomaly becuase I use OpenDNS which returns a valid IP address when you query non existant domains.

I’ve tried running this analysis multiple times using both FF 3.0.11 and IE 8. In all cases it appears to complete the tests in under two minute to get to the point where it says ‘Calculating final results’. It then just sits there until the computer goes to sleep (30 minutes). I’m hoping that my lack of patience is not the issue here.

How long should this test take to complete, and does anyone have some thoughts on why it does not seem to work on my computer? Their FAQ does not seem to help in this regard.

      Thanks.

On my PC it took just a few minutes. No idea why it won’t finish on yours.
