      Email from TFW:

Mentions portable version, but the link only finds an install version.   I cannot find the portable version mentioned in the article.   Could you please provide the link?

Deanna can correct me, but I think the downloadable program is portable. The term “installer” is confusing because, I believe, it refers to the action that the portable program takes – it installs VC++.

Anybody out there have a definitive answer?

Does, exclusively,  Window 7 64-bit OS require any C++ to function correctly ?

It us usually the programs you have installed that are written in or use C++. Depending on the age of the programs, these may use various versions of C++.

Even Windows 10 require all VC++ redist runtimes, it’s about the programs that needs them, not OS itself

OK. So does Windows Update require C++ stuff, to function ?
        Cheers !

I had high hopes for this. It did install the latest versions. But the article said it “cleanly and gracefully uninstalls all VC++ Redists” which it clearly did not since I now have multiple versions of each redistributable, some of which were installed months or even years ago.
