I poked through the help for Excel 97 SR-1 in search of a “Day of Year” function. I wanted a row in which the date in the row above was expressed as which of the 365 days of the year it represented. I could not find it. Perhaps I just failed to search for the proper index term. Does it exist?

    Thanks,

Got this from a board, some time ago….

=A1-DATE(YEAR(A1),1,0), where A1 = the date you are checking.

        Thanks James!

It worked great once I realized that I needed to reformat the new row to a ‘generic’ number format.

This will do it for you:
        =A1-DATE(YEAR(A1)-1,12,31)
